During the late 1960s and through the 70s my mother use to type letters at the kitchen table for my Aunt Myrta Pfeiffer. Aunt Myrta was the Treasurer and then President of the World Federation and invited me to attend the Assembly in 1976 in Dublin, Ireland. I have participated in every Assembly since. Next came the writing of the Federation history for the book METHODIST WOMEN A World Sisterhood. Aunt Myrta was chairperson of the Editorial Committee. When President Oknah Kim Lah was preparing for her Assembly in 1986, she asked me to write a “play” on the history of the Federation to be presented there. It was at that gathering that I was elected World Treasurer and in 1991 elected Vice President. I was present with my Aunt at the dedication of the Archives in Lake Junaluska. I share all of this with you so that you know what a deep love I have for the Federation and its impact on the world scene and how delighted I am to be the Archivist for these 5 years.
I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from the University of Iowa with a BA in Social Work. Married Herb in 1965 and have two grown children; Becky and Christopher, who is married to Debbie and they have made us grandparents to 3 precious children.
I am active in the United Methodist Church serving as the Northern Illinois Conference Secretary of Global Ministries (and the ex-official positions this entails.) In the wider church as a member of the Advance Committee of the General Board of Global Ministries, North Central Jurisdiction Laity Rep. to the Central Conference Pension Initiative Fund and as a member of the World Methodist Council.
