Happy Birthday!

Today 26 October 2024, World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women celebrate 85 years. “This is the day the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it” ( Psalms 118:24) Today on this special day we remember that God made this day 85 years ago. We rejoice in His Faithfulness to us year after year. We will rejoice in the shared memories with our Federation Family in the five Areas we visited for Weaving Together Program and Area Seminars this year, and all of us. We have seen God’s faithfulness in our lives and in the life of this great sisterhood, as we grow. And most importantly we will rejoice in the hope of eternity with Him.

 We reflect on the faithfulness of God and our call “To know Christ and to make Him known” This anniversary is a reminder to continue to walk in the light of justice and mercy. We are reminded to our duty to be God’s voice in every situation, standing up for the marginalized, vulnerable and offering hope to the hopeless.

 God has graciously blessed us and given us a voice in our community and Unit. Let’s use this voice to speak out against injustice, to defend the rights of the poor and needy, and to bring hope and healing to those who are hurting. As we do so, we reflect God’s character, and like the tree of life we reach out, and bear fruit that will last in His Kingdom. Happy Birthday! Cheers to another year of being fruitful.

 The World Federation Prayer

 Creator God, rooted in your loving care, nurtured through your Son Jesus, challenged by your Holy Spirit.

 We are in the world to bring peace with justice, reconciliation in love, and hope for all people. May our lives extend as the branches of our Tree of Life, bearing fruit of Unity and Love.

 We offer praise and thanksgiving through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
