Sisters in the World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, greetings to you in the
name of our Lord Jesus Christ as we celebrate one year in office as leaders in the World and Areas in
this great sisterhood of the WFMUCW. We continue to work within our nine geographical Areas as
we bear fruit, fruit that will last, being inspired and empowered by the Holy Spirit. As Federation
women we know Christ and we want him known by others.
Many of our women are currently experiencing enormous challenges, national, local and personal,
facing crisis situations of political, economic, health and environmental issues. Many are living in
places of conflict and religious persecution. Some have lost homes and loved ones through extreme
weather condition, Ivonne our Vice World President has told us about floods, houses being
destroyed by heavy rains in their winter season in her country Chile. We pray for Chile for God to
calm the storm and pronounce peace.
Some of you struggle to feed your families or witness someone not able to feed her family or access
education and health care. We are sisters in the federation we share in each other’s burdens and
support each other in prayer. l know that many of you are responding to the call of those who suffer
and are finding ways of bringing them healing and hope as we work on the focused SDGs, Our
purpose as a Christian organisation is to bring the love of Jesus to people and to be always in service
to the world and to us that is true religion as we give what we can in support of the poor. As World
Federation this quadrennial we are focusing on five SDGs;
• SDG 1 Reducing Poverty
• SDG 3 Health and Wellbeing
• SDG 5 Gender Equality
• SDG 13 Care for Creation
• SDG 16 Eliminating Violence
I hope all Areas have started preparing for your Area Seminars so that you can complete everything
that needs to be done in time. I pray for God’s guidance as you prepare and find suitable venues for
the meeting. We pray that we fully utilize the talents that God has given us to further his kingdom
for his Glory.
