Area Officers
The first time I heard of the World Federation was when Vera Dowie, from Auckland, was South Pacific Area President and spoke at our New Zealand Methodist Women’s Fellowship Conference. Shortly after that conference, Oknah Kim Lah, World President, visited Christchurch and spoke at a District gathering. Wow! So, since the early 1980′s I have had a passion for, and interest in, the World Federation and living out and affirming its purpose “To Know Christ and Make Him Known”.
I have been richly blessed through attending WFM&UCW South Pacific Area Seminars. My first World Assembly experience on Jeju Island, South Korea, in July 2006 and the World Assembly in Johannesburg were enriching experiences. What a wonderful sisterhood.
I was born and live in Christchurch, New Zealand, and been given so many opportunities through living in a multi-cultural society and serving in a multi-cultural church, which has strong links with all Units in the Pacific. I have worked as Principal’s Secretary at Middleton Grange School, an interdenominational Christian School, since 1984. A Methodist representative on National Council of Women for a number of years, I am currently Branch Secretary. I have been blessed with so many opportunities to serve Methodist Women’s Fellowship locally and nationally.
Interests include enjoying bush walks, observing and appreciating flora and fauna, spending time with grandchildren and travelling. I enjoy learning about other cultures as part of my travel experience.
In my role as Area President I believe it is extremely important to have good communication and information sharing.
To God be the Glory! Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those that loved God, to those who are called according to His purpose”(Romans 8: 28). God has been working in me right from my primary school days up until now. A series of events have added a new dimension to my life.
I have been involved the women’s from 1980. I realized the importance of leadership training for women so organized training programs to become confident and influential leaders for the work of women’s fellowship in the community, the church and beyond.
For seven years I have been the women’s work secretary for our church, United Church in Solomon Islands, organized awareness programs, seminars, conferences, for women. This is my passion and love doing it! I have represented our women in the ecumenical organization in our country and chaired the executive meetings.
I would like to thank my South Pacific Area sisters for their trust and confidence in electing me to be their Vice President. Working with an experienced person like Lynn, I will be able to learn and build my confidence in this new environment of leadership. We will both need your prayers, encouragement and support.
