For he is our peace; in his flesh he has made us both groups into one and has broken down the dividing wall, that is, the hostility between us. Ephesians 2:14 (NRSV)
Our reconciling God does not merely bring peace; He is our peace. He has broken down the walls that separated us from each other and from God. Paul says “anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.
Sisters in Christ and in the Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women, it is with great joy and thanksgiving as I send this message to you. As World Officers, we thank you for your prayers that carried us through our travels around the world to the 9 Areas of our Federation for WTP and Area Seminars. Your prayers sustained us. We truly appreciate your welcome and hospitality as we visited your areas, in all areas we really felt at home and enjoyed our stay.
We just came back from our last WTP and Area Seminar in South Asia Area held in Colombo, Sri Lanka 18 – 21 June 2025 with a theme: “She will be fruitful in every season” Jeremiah 17:7-8. The theme was a reminder from Jeremiah to us all that those who trust in the Lord are like trees planted by the water, unshaken by heat or drought, continually bearing fruit in every season. Women rooted in Christ, bear fruit in every season through joy and hardships, in times of abundance and in times of trials. Women in the Area are being fruitful and empowering women and girls to reach their potential.
I thank God for His faithfulness, and I praise God for strength in moments of weakness, the faith I receive in times of doubt, the vision I am given of a successful 15th World Assembly 2026. The 15th World Assembly theme logo has been selected and it now out for publication, it is now on our website and Facebook page. We thank all those who submitted logo designs, all designs submitted were beautiful, and showed creativity and a thoughtful input, but we had to choose one. The logo chosen was done by Nangi Mugabe from Methodist Church in Zimbabwe Unit in the Southern & East Africa Area.
Planning and preparations for the 15th World Assembly in Auckland, New Zealand in 2026 are in progress, the LAC in Auckland is actively working on the processes together with the Steering Committee which are the World Officers and South Pacific Area President and Vice President. More information about the assembly will be coming to you soon.
We continue to call for prayers for our world, there are so many areas of hostility still causing divisions and devastation, destruction and dearth. In the Democratic Republic of Congo and in Israel and Palestine hostilities continue, war in Ukraine, conflict between India and Pakistan and many other countries have claimed lives of millions of lives. In each conflict it is often the women and children who are most vulnerable and who suffer most. We wear black each Thursday to stand in solidarity with victims of violence and rape. We pray for peace in the world.
We thank God for all initiatives that work for peace and reconciliation, and those who risk their lives to serve the cause of peace. Jesus came into the world offering peace through his way of love. We also confess that sometimes we cause conflict between ourselves and others. Our own self-centredness can raise walls of division close to home. May the Lord bring down the barriers and show us how to live in unity and harmony with others. We pray and continue bearing fruit that will last. Amen.
