A Call to Pray – August 2018

By July 30, 2018No Comments

‘All of you are part of the same body. There is only one Spirit of God, just as you were given one hope when you were chosen to be God’s people. We have only one Lord, one faith, and one baptism. There is one God who is the Father of all people. Not only is God above all others, but he works by using all of us, and he lives in all of us.’ Ephesians 4:4-6 (CEV)

Reconciling God, we come to you as our loving creator who is our source of hope. We appeal to Christ our Saviour to draw your people together as one body. We call on the Holy Spirit to guide us in the ways of justice and peace. Live in us day by day, we pray, and use us for your kingdom’s sake. Amen.

Pray for those who were involved in elections in Zimbabwe at the end of July, for voters and candidates, for chosen and rejected, that all might find a way to live together in justice and peace.

Pray for those who have power to bring about reunification and peace in the Korean Peninsular. May those who have prayed fervently over weeks, months and years be blessed with joyful news.

Pray for those attending the 67th UN DPI/NGO Conference. This year’s Conference entitled “We the Peoples… Together Finding Global Solutions for Global Problems” will take place 22 – 23 August 2018 at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Pray for the Methodist women of Fiji as they celebrate on 21st August the 70th anniversary of their fellowship and raise funds for a new building that will provide a girls dormitory, a conference/ training centre, a chapel and support for victims of domestic violence and for the elderly.

Give God thanks for all Units that are engaged in empowering women and girls to reach their potential.

Give God thanks for bringing together women of all ages in national events and Area Seminars that encourage, equip and enable us to understand one another better and give us hope for the future of our global movement.

Give God thanks for our mothers in the faith who have pointed the way for us and inspired us by their vision and commitment.

Give God thanks for the gifted young women who are our current Helen Kim Memorial Scholars, from whom we can all learn and find hope for the future of the Federation. Pray that suitable young women will be found to be our next recipients of this scholarship opportunity.

Please remember to use the World Federation prayer at 12 noon on the 26th of each month.

Creator God, rooted in your loving care, nurtured through your Son Jesus, challenged by your Holy Spirit, we are in the world to bring peace with justice, reconciliation in love, and hope for all people. May our lives extend as the branches of our Tree of Life, bearing fruit of Unity and Love. We offer praise and thanksgiving through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer is the powerhouse that generates results.

In the name of Christ, Amen
