‘When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.’ Acts 2:1
Holy Spirit, we unite in prayer to greet you. From every land, in cities, towns and villages, in great cathedrals and small groups under the trees, as individuals in the home or workplace, and in our morning and evening times of devotion – we welcome you.
You come as the wind, blowing where you will and directing our paths. Guide us today into new experiences that reveal God’s love for us.
You come as the fire, anointing us as your people and burning away the pride that separates us from God. Challenge us today to serve you in obedience.
You come to encourage us to proclaim your greatness and your offer of new life for everyone. Help us to speak for you with sensitivity and courage.
You come to enable us to listen with understanding and speak the truth in love. Show us how to overcome barriers of hostility caused by different opinions.
You come to inspire us to prophesy, to see visions and dream dreams. Reveal to us how we can work with you to make a difference in your world.
You come to fill us with your Holy presence and we rejoice in your activity in our daily lives. Fill us so that there is no longer any room for doubt, or complacency or fear.
Come, Holy Spirit, come! Amen
As the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost enabled people of different nations to hear the gospel in their own language, we thank God for the worldwide Christian Church in all its forms. Give thanks for growing ecumenical links between the World Federation and women of other denominations: The Catholic Women’s League, the Anglican Mother’s Union, Ecumenical women in the United Nations, as well as the branches of Methodism represented within our Federation sisterhood.
Give thanks that the East Asia Area President Sing Hong Ting, V-P Mary and Secretary, Margaret will attend the United Church of Christ in Japan (KYODAN) 50th Anniversary National Assembly 6-8 June.
Give thanks that the North America Area leadership has announced their Area Seminar will take place in Chicago 4-6 October 2019. We pray that women from all Units in North America and the Caribbean will attend this event. Meanwhile the Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church meets in Florida in July with Dr Sandra Gadson as their President.
Women from the Solomon Islands will be gathering this month for their Unit Assembly. Let us pray for them and for the new British Unit President, Hilary Evans, who will be commissioned at an event in Birmingham, UK on 28th June.
Come, Holy Spirit, to all these events and pour out your blessing on all of us, so that we can more effectively proclaim God’s mighty acts. Amen
