Let us give thanks to our faithful God:
- for our World Federation of Methodist and Uniting Church Women;
- for the achievements of the last five years through raising awareness of the Millennium Development Goals;
- for the example shown by the former World Officers who did not give up even when faced with huge challenges;
- for the 13th World Assembly when 830 women from diverse cultures were able to worship together, share and learn from each other;
- for the theme of ‘Chosen people: called to proclaim’ which will inspire us as we go forward;
- for those who are already sharing with others locally what they experienced in Houston.
Let us remember before our loving God:
- women and children who suffer from violence and abuse;
- migrants and refugees who are longing for a place to call home;
- the people of Haiti and Cuba so badly affected by hurricane Matthew;
- those who are struggling to survive in war zones.
Let us ask our gracious God:
- to bless our efforts to help bring justice, healing, reconciliation and hope to the world;
- to grant wisdom to our leaders;
- to inspire and encourage all of us as chosen people, to proclaim the gospel of Christ;
through Christ our Lord and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen
