Christmas Message – A Time of Gifts

By December 22, 2025No Comments

“I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counsellor to be with you forever. Peace, I leave with you; My peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”   John 14:16,27

Christmas is traditionally the time when we give gifts to one another – simply because it is the time when we celebrate God’s gift to us who is Jesus. We sometimes lose sight of the fact that Jesus, when He returned to His Father, also left two precious gifts for us. In His talk to His disciples just before crucifixion, He told them about the gifts. He promised that His Father would send a Mediator, the Holy Spirit, in His place, and straight after this He said He would leave His peace for them.

The value of these two precious gifts cannot be calculated: With the Holy Spirit with you to teach and guide you, to be your eternal Helper, Advocate and Comforter who will be with you forever, guiding you into all truth. We are never alone but we are filled with God’s presence, to pray for us and teach us to pray, and to make it possible for us to witness. We can now experience true peace

Jesus’s peace is distinct from worldly peace which is based on comfort, wealth or absence of conflict, it is a supernatural, inner calm rooted in His presence. Let us this Christmas choose faith over fear, for He says, “Let not your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid” His peace is inseparable from His presence and His Spirit, offering to us courage and stability in all situations. Take ownership of these two precious gifts, give the control of your life to the indwelling, empowering Holy Spirit, and focus on the peace of God that does not depend on your circumstances, so that this Christmastime you will be a healthier, happier person in His peace that surpasses worldly understanding.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PEACEFUL NEW YEAR
