The World Secretary Mataiva and I met with leaders of the South Asia Area this morning via zoom. Evelyn Mercylin, the newly appointed Area President for the South Asia Area, had invited Unit leaders, two Senior Friends and one of their Helen Kim Memorial Scholars to meet for fellowship and to discuss the production of the Federation Study Day resource for 2021. This will focus on Sustainable Development Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation. There were enthusiastic offers of contributions which was very gratifying. We can look forward to the resource material being made available online in June, ready for use in October.
We remembered the wonderful Area Seminar that took place in Myanmar nearly three years ago and led so beautifully by Margarette with the help of her husband Stanley. However, as Margarette is sadly no longer able to function as Area President, that responsibility now falls to Evelyn and she will be supported by Sarojini Nagendran as interim Vice-President until August 2022. By that time, elections will have taken place for Area Officers to assume their roles at the World Assembly in August 2022.
Please pray for Evelyn and Sarojini as they lead the women of this Area during this current period.
