I am very honoured to be the first Latina to be elected the President of the North America Area of the WFMUCW. I live in the Chicago area in the United States and have been a Methodist since birth. I have been very active in most levels of the United Methodist Women where I have had the joy of meeting and getting to know women from all over the United States and a few from around the world. I am currently finishing up my term as Vice- President in the Northern Illinois Conference. In the organization of United Methodist Women (UMW) it is the Vice-President who is the link to our partners in mission such as the Federation and in the UMW. I thoroughly enjoyed the Assembly held in Johannesburg, S. Africa this August. What a blessing to share in song, worship, Bible study and conversation with women from all over the world. I am involved in my local church in many ways. I am employed by the Northern Illinois Conference where I am the administrative assistant to the Director of Congregational Development and Redevelopment. Rev. Fernando Siaba and I have been married for 36 years and have three daughters, two sons in law and 4 grandchildren.
I have been truly blessed throughout my life in the ways God has called me to serve the church and opened doors of opportunity for me. Going through these doors have opened my eyes, my heart and my mind. In spite of all the violence around the world, there is a lot of beauty as well. This gives me hope and helps me work towards bringing a little bit more justice in the world that surrounds me daily. Please pray for all of us as we partake in a new 5 year journey “To know God and Make Him Known” and to share God’s vision.
