‘Let mutual love continue.’ Hebrews 13:1
As delegates to the United Methodist Church General Conference in St Louis return to their homes, many will be deeply disappointed at the result while others will be convinced the best decision has been made. We pray for all United Methodists, in all their diversity, that mutual love and respect may yet be made possible by the power of God’s Holy Spirit. We give thanks for the presence and ministry of United Methodist Women at the Conference and for the statement of hope made by the Young People. Loving Lord, direct all our paths as we discover your Way Forward. Amen.
This month we give thanks for:
The World Day of Prayer service celebrated world-wide on Friday 1st March and prepared by the women of Slovenia ‘Come – everything is ready’.
International Women’s Day on 8 March, celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
The First African Methodist Conference which will be hosted by the Methodist Church in Kenya from 13-18 March 2019 under the theme: ‘Wesleyans Shaping the Future of Africa’.
The World Federation World Executive meeting in Hong Kong 18-23 March, whose agenda will include plans for the next World Assembly. Please pray that all members gain visas to attend this meeting and that God will bless our time together.
The East Asia Area Seminar in Hong Kong 25-30 March: ‘Here I am! Send me’ (Isaiah 6:8)
Give thanks for the witness of young people in various countries demonstrating about the fragile global environment, reminding adults that we need to be careful with our resources.
In a world fractured by disunity, pray for those making important decisions regarding Brexit and the future relationships between the United Kingdom and Europe.
Pray for those affected by internal political instability in Venezuela, Zimbabwe, Nigeria and Haiti, and by rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
Pray for the people of Northern Queensland, Australia, where the worst ever floods have devastated towns and the cattle industry.
Lord of life, as we journey through Lent, guide our steps deeper into your love. Amen
